If you’re looking for something special north of the city The North Melbourne Hotel has got you covered.
Unlike the footy team of the same name, the Victoria Street venue proudly boasts consistency, in food and service.

The owners of Bouzy Rouge in Richmond, Sandra and Jose De Oliveira, opened the venue in August last year bringing a varied Modern European menu with a focus on share plates to the north side.
In short, it’s something a bit unique north of the river.
From the shining faux bull’s head sitting proudly above the entrance, to the sleek yet mismatched decor, the North Melbourne Hotel is not your usual night out.
Then there’s the food.
On the new Autumn menu, we suggest starting with a jalapeno popper filled with cream cheese, wrapped in pancetta and deep fried before moving on to the Eggplant chips with romesco sauce and vegan aioli – crunchy perfection.
Around the tables you’ll find first dates (if you’re looking to impress that special someone, this is the place to go), friendly catch ups and the occasional family celebrating a special occasion.
To drink, nab a wine from France, Portugal and Italy, or a local brew, including North Melbourne Hotel Draught.
Or take on the cheeky margarita for some salty lime goodness.
You can’t go past the 12 hour slow roasted lamb.
It feeds up to three people for $75, and comes with grilled flatbread, mint salsa and labna.
The best part? Watching the lamb practically drop off the bone.
Soooo many options. If you manage to look past the salted caramel Italian doughnut, or the amazing sorbet with fresh berries, then we suggest the delightfully crunchy Creme Catalana. Check out the video above for that all important crack as we tapped our way through. Underneath? Smooth custard to round out the crunch.
