How we source, check and correct what we publish.
Who is responsible
MelbourneLyf is edited by Sam Allcock, who is answerable for everything we publish. Each article carries the byline of the writer who produced it, and every writer has a profile page you can read.

Where our writing comes from
We write from first-hand knowledge of Melbourne. Where a piece rests on a fact - an address, an opening day, an event date, a gallery's admission policy - we check it against a primary source, usually the venue's or organiser's own page, and we link to it.
We do not invent venues, quotes, prices, ratings or reviews. If we cannot confirm something, we leave it out or say plainly that it is worth checking before you go.
AI assistance and human review
Some of our writing is produced with the assistance of AI tools. Every article is reviewed by a named editor against its sources before it is published. Nothing publishes automatically.
Things that change
Opening hours, menus, prices and event dates move constantly. We tend to describe what a place is known for rather than pin down a figure that will date, and we encourage readers to confirm the details with a venue or organiser before setting out.
Independence and disclosure
Advertising has no influence on what we cover. Sponsored material, if we carry any, is labelled as such and is not presented as editorial. Where we have a commercial relationship with somewhere we are writing about, we disclose it in the article.
Images
Where we have a photograph or official image of what we are writing about, we use it and say where it came from. Where we do not, we use our own abstract section artwork rather than passing off a stock photograph as the real place.
Corrections
We will correct anything we get wrong, and say that we have. Corrections are noted on the article with the date rather than made silently. Send them to editor@melbournelyf.com.
